Managing the HEYROC Heywood Community Event
Managing the HEYROC Heywood Community Event
I’m excited to share insights from a recent event/project I managed—an inspiring community event aimed at shaping the future of Heywood. As part of the Heywood Long-Term Plan, this event was a collaborative effort designed to engage local residents in envisioning how our town could develop over the next decade.
A Collaborative Experience
1. Skylight Circus
Open have a go circus workshop lead by two Skylight circus staff alongside 1
Skylight staff delivering consultancy activity based on ‘What do you want Heywood to
look like in 10 years’ time?’ for Heywood residents.
2. A Brilliant Thing
A Brilliant Thing offered series of games to help people explore how play and creativity can create places people want to live work and have fun in.
3. M6 Theatre
M6 Theatre used drama, storytelling and model making, Participants helped build the
perfect, model town. Inspired by the loveable characters in The Street Where I Live, the
company’s much-loved storytelling show about friendship in a diverse street, exploring what makes a safe and secure community for the people who live, learn and work there
Impact and Engagement
Managing this event was a rewarding experience, highlighting the power of community collaboration in shaping our town’s future. The diverse range of activities facilitated open dialogue and provided valuable insights into how Heywood residents envision their town’s development.
The feedback collected from these activities will contribute to local proposals for the Heywood Long-Term Plan. The £20 million funding will support key areas such as safety, high streets, heritage, regeneration, and transport connectivity, aiming to revitalize Heywood and make it an attractive place for investment and growth.
