This summer, I had the pleasure of designing and delivering a series of giant interactive games inspired by the Touchstones collection, used across four Feel Good Family Picnics and the Side by Side Festival in August. These playful, hands-on activities were created to help families and community audiences connect with our art & history collection through creative, fun experiences.
🧩 Games Inspired by History & Imagination
we commissioned Easypeel Studios to create a giant version of Guess Who, featuring portraits from our collection.
Other activities included:
- Giant Roman Coin Connect 4 – A twist on the classic game using coin-inspired pieces, referencing the 76 Roman coins discovered in Littleborough in 2020, dating back nearly 2000 years.
- Fun Fact Artifact Jenga – A playful tower game where selected blocks revealed fascinating facts about historical objects and artifacts.
- Shape-Building Puzzles – Inspired by collection objects, these tactile puzzles used recycled plastic pattern blocks with textured surfaces to support sensory learning and creative problem-solving.
These games were not only fun—they were a meaningful way to bridge art, history, and play 🙂
