My Experience as an Assistant Producer at Darnhill Festival

About the Festival

I recently had the opportunity to work as an assistant producer at the Darnhill Festival, and it was an amazing learning experience. The festival is a large community event that brings people together to celebrate the local community and culture.

As a trainee producer, I had the chance to see first-hand all the work that goes into planning and organising a festival of this scale.

I assisted in various aspects of the festival, such as designing promotional materials, booking acts and stalls, completing invoices and contracts, and coordinating logistics.

The Festival

One of the most exciting parts of my role was taking ownership of the storytelling tent, booking acts for the space - that included drag-duo act The vegan queens - who where very popular with the crowd. I thought it was important to have some LGBQ+ representation at the festival and it was great to see the queens being celebrated. We also organised a variety of stalls, that included local charities, community groups.

In addition to the entertainment and stalls, the festival also included workshops and activities for people of all ages. Throughout the day participants children could take part in various arts and crafts activities, including face painting, printmaking, paper crafts, badgemaking and more.

Overall, my experience as a assistant producer at Darnhill Festival 2022 was incredibly rewarding. I gained valuable skills and knowledge about event planning and management, and I was able to contribute to a successful community event. I look forward to applying these skills to future projects and events.
